OOTY

Ooty  which is a  is  a scenic,  mind refreshing cool Hill Station, is said to be the QUEEN of Hill stations and is  situated  on the western Ghats. Ooty is also called Uthagamandalam or Oottakamand.  It also has another name the Nilgris or Neelagiri Mountains, which means Blue Mountains. Located in the confluence of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu at a height ranging from 900 metres to 2,636 metres above sea level, is the one of the most sought  summer destinations in India. Nature has been particularly generous in her bounty as she has blessed this region with most spectacular sites.

One of the most tourist attractions when we visit Ooty is

the Toy Train (Nilgiri Mountain Train)  journey  which

starts from Mettupalayam and ends in Ooty after travelling

a distance of 46 Kilometers in a time span of 4.5 to 5 hours

watching the picturesque flora and fauna.  Amidst the route,

there  is  an  important  station  named  Conoor. The most

interesting part is that  the train goes at  a very slow  pace

and the engine keeps on pushing you from behind. You can

actually have a cup of cofee, taste snacks walking at the back

of the train,  you still won't  miss the  train. But you are not

allowed to alight from the  train  enroute for safety reasons.

There are  very  many  tunnels,  waterfalls and  other  mind

sticking scenery which you will never like to miss.  There are

a lot of  monkeys on  the  way.  You can  taste  the  famous

tamil  snack  'Dal Wada'  on  the  way.  The  distance  from

Coonoor to Ooty is about 20 Kilometres. Rates for First Class (16 seats) - Rs. 500/- each and Second Siting (160 seats) Rs. 250/-.  For booking seats in train, you have to CLICK HERE.   Please CLICK HERE  for train timings
